Excellent results with Nuklospray Yoghurt |
Trial at Centre for Agriculture Haus Düsse, Bad Sassendorf-Ostinghausen, Germany
Conclusion
The piglets from the Nuklospray Yoghurt trial group had in average a total feed intake of 805 gram per piglet, whereas the control group had a total feed intake of 432 gram per piglet. The average weight loss of the sows was 10,3 kg less than the control group.
Trial
At the pilot farm of Haus Düsse two feeding standards were tested. The trial group was fed Nuklospray Yoghurt for three weeks and the control group was fed a milk replacer for two weeks. Both groups started on the second day after birth.
After feeding the yoghurt and milk a prestarter was given till weaning at 27 days.
Results pre-weaning
The number of weaned piglets per litter in the Nuklospray Yoghurt group is 0,7 piglet higher than the control group (11,8 and 11,1).
The pre-weaning mortality rate was reduced with 1,3 %.
The total litter weight of the Nuklospray Yoghurt group was 91,7 kg, the total litter weight of the control group was 85,3 kg.
In this trial an significant difference between weight loss of the sows in the different goups is stood out.
De sows from the Nuklospray Yoghurt group had an average weight loss of 31,1 kg. This lies 10,3 kg beneath the average of the control group which was 41,4 kg.

If we look at the feed intake of the piglets; we could see that the piglets from the Nuklospray Yoghurt group had a feed intake of 525 gram Yoghurt and 280 gram prestarter. Whereas the piglets from the control group had a feed intake of 180 gram milk replacer and 252 gram prestarter.
Results after weaning
After weaning the performances of the piglets weree monitored until 41 days after weaning.
In average the piglets from the Nuklospray Yoghurt group grow faster (13 gr) and they were (0,5 kg).
If we look at the difference between the piglets with a weaning weight from < 7,8 kg or > 7,9 kg, we can see that the lighter piglets from the Nuklospray Yoghurt group have grown about 20 grams faster 20 and the heavier piglets have grown about 7 grams faster.
This means that the lighter piglets are 0,8 kg heavier and the heavier piglets are 0,3 kg heavier 41 days after weaning.
